This is the Brazilian squad's second event win since their failed Road to Rio Americas RMR campaign.
paiN secured victory in CCT North America Series 2, defeating Nouns in the final 2-0 on Inferno (22-19) and Nuke (16-6) to take the title.
The Brazilians of paiN received a direct invite to the playoffs and made it count by defeating three of the six top-ranked sides in attendance, EG White, MIBR and Nouns, on their way to the title. Romeu "zevy" Rocco was particularly impressive during their run, posting a 1.34 rating over eight maps to power his team to victory.
Nouns can be proud of their performance despite falling in the final, particularly considering the fact the roster has undergone significant changes since their failed IEM Rio RMR campaign; only two members of the RMR roster remain.
Having received a direct playoffs invite they defeated the highest-ranked team in the event, Complexity, on their way to the final, and this will no doubt give the new-look squad confidence heading into 2023.
For Brazilian side paiN this event victory caps off what has been a successful year, with the squad taking multiple domestic titles including the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown and an international one in the form of ESL Challenger Melbourne. The latter tournament run saw them rise to their peak ranking of No. 20 in the world. It has not been a year without disappointment however, as the team failed to qualify for either the PGL Major Antwerp or the IEM Rio Major.
