The Australian side Grayhound and the Asian mixture 5POWER dealt with their respective semi-final opponents, Mineski and Signature, to earn spots at the final, $250,000 ROG Masters LAN event.

The regional qualifier in Manila Bay, Philippines, started with the ROG Masters APAC Main Qualifier, which had 12 teams in attendance. After playing out the four three-team groups and the following playoffs, 5POWER and Athletico earned their spots in the eight-team ROG Masters 2017 APAC Regional Finals.

Waiting for the two qualified teams in the quarter-finals of the single-elimination bracket were AKARA, Signature, Fire Dragoon, Vikings, Mineski and Grayhound. The two Australian sides, Grayhound and Athletico, met in the first leg—with Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai's team taking the win, eliminating their countrymen. The other qualified team, 5POWER, had a much easier task against AKARA, and then moved on to the deciding game against Signature.

The 27-year-old Peng "xiaosaGe" Song was the main man in 5POWER's three-map victory, finishing on top of the scoreboard on Mirage, Inferno and Train. His play was key in helping 5POWER make the comeback in the series, taking the 2-1 win after losing in overtime on Mirage. With the win, 5POWER earned their spot at the final event, with a successful run all the way from the Main Qualifier to the top 2 placing in the APAC Regional Finals.

Grayhound's deciding match was the local team Mineski. The series ended up being a two-mapper, but a surprisingly close one as the Australian side picked up three out of four pistols and had good starts on both Cobblestone and Inferno.

In the end, Grayhound were able to outfrag the Philippine side, with all five of their members finishing on an above-average rating.
